The (Food)Stuff of Nightmares

Here’s a little story about a girl who we will call, “Mina.” Now, this story has nothing to do with real life, I can’t tell you that enough, so without further filler at this point, I’m going to start my story.

Mina enjoyed cigarettes, and one day, while she was having a cigarette break, a capricious, although very handsome imp decided to mix a bit of her food together. You see, this was at dinner, and his food had not arrived yet. He moved some grits there, and some corned hash around, mixing them together into what he called, “Grash.” Now, the imp never really told anyone that he called it, “Grash,” as this was all in his head. After a while, he got bored and went back to waiting for his food.

Then, the boy-Mina-was-not-dating saw what the imp did and told him that he just did something that Mina really hates.

“You just did something that Mina really hates.” He said, fiddling with his Treo.

The Fun is inside!

Ah, the PlayStation Portable. To be honest, if I ever got my hands on one, I’d just be hacking the firmware and running emulators.

For games I already own, of course.

Long load times for most games and SONY’s penchant for firmware updates that break the homebrew functionality don’t help.

And of course, there’s EA’s head of development saying this:

EA says it has shifted its handheld priorities since DS began pulling away from PSP. “There’s no doubt that EA has historically bet more on PSP,” said Garner. “I think we were excited by the technology, but the consumers have proven that actually what they want is fun.

Burn. Harsh words, but consumers have already proven you can have fun with the PSP. You just have to downgrade the firmware and code the fun in yourself.

Not good news for SONY, especially after Target and Walmart pulled UMD movies from their shelves.

Fic(kle)

So, I’m going through a lot of old documents in the backup folder, converting the things I find into Rich Text rather than the 1994 version of Word. A lot of it doesn’t have a lot of fancy formatting, and all I really want is the text. I did however, find the beginnings of my Gargoyles: The Animated Series / Highlander crossover fic.

While not as embarassing as other fics, I still marvel at the few paragraphs I did manage to get banged out. I had some thoughts about Demona and Xanatos being really interested in the Immortals, considering Xanatos’s interest in Immortality, and Demona being interested in some way to “cure” hers.

Probably never going to finish it, although I had a fairly obscure in joke about Demona’s computer “sounding like someone’s mother.” I thought it would be witty, you know, since Demona was played by Marina Sirtis, who played Deanna Troi on ST:TNG, and the computer there was played by Majel Barrett, who played Luxanna Troi on ST:TNG, who was Deanna’s Troi’s mother.

Right.

Needless to say, it was never loosed upon the world, and arguably, it’s a better place.

But it could have!

Never happened to me before. Surprisingly.

Cute commercial for some startup.

Over a decade in the making

Just over, actually. PREY was announced first 1995, and over the years has experienced many changes. Overall, the final product was released last week, and it is very polished.

Not a single drab texture the entire game. It looks “whole.” As in complete.

Whether or not it was rushed out the door isn’t important as it plays like a fun game with a coherent story.
