NYC, Day 3

I think I’m getting it.

Walk downtown on Church. Pass Ground Zero.

Join throng of people headed downtown.

Left at Pine.

Jaywalk, hang a right when I feel like it.

Avoid bike messenger going wrong way down one way street into oncoming traffic.

Cross with the light this time, making sure to avoid the hybrid taxi edging its way through the crosswalk, the same crosswalk filled with people.

Avoid line of people entering fifth starbucks in three blocks.

Pass The World of Golf.

Barrel through family of tourists that decided to make the stop right in the middle of the sidewalk during rush hour wearing those incredibly stupid looking statue of liberty foam headbands.

I hate those headbands.

Grab blueberry yogurt parfait at Pax Wholesome Foods.

Arrive at training center.

Bang.  Easy.

Can't wait until next time.

As I veer around what feels like the third stalled semi on Wisconsin Avenue, I wonder what the law says about driving with a license on the day it expires.

I wonder only because I’m driving with a license that expires today.

Traffic is light on Wisconsin Avenue from my place, but starts to get heavier the closer I get to Georgetown.  Not a huge surprise since the road narrows to one lane, but still troublesome at seven-thirty in the morning.

I’m driving with an expired license down Wisconsin Avenue because I have to go to the DMV and renew my license.  I had to renew in person because I didn’t change my address back when, well, when I changed my address.

Back in 2004.

When I bought a condo. Continue reading

Checklist

Let’s see here, I’m up early, there’s a kettle whistling on the stove, I’m sitting in front of the computer writing.

Must be another year come and gone, and me wondering where it went.

Comic to movie

WANTED was a great book about supervillains that run the world and keep us in the dark about the real truth of our existence.

WANTED the movie on the other hand, appears to be about a secret society of assassins that run the world and keep us in the dark about the real truth of our existence.

At first glance, they seem similar, but the comic had a great edge to it that the trailer lacks.  In the comic, the main character is a villain.  There’s no greater good to his actions.  There’s a progression in his character reminiscent of Tyler Durden’s rise in Fight Club.

In the trailer, it just feels like another action movie.

We’ll see.

Long Weekend

Right now, I’m just amazed at the amount of planning that has to be done for a wedding*, and glad that I’m going to sleep at a relatively decent hour.

* Not mine.
