Went to the movies with Isabelle.
Tried, in any case.
John Carter, based on a series of books by Edgar Rice Burroughs looked really promising and reviews pretty well. But then this happened:
Purchased my tickets. All was fine.
Then the previews for the new Avengers movie. So far so good. Two previews with Liam Neeson, who for some reason is making poor choices for 2012 releases. (Wrath of the Titans and Battleship)
Then the movie begins in earnest, or at least tries to. I have only bought tickets for the 4PM because it’s the non 3D showing, but it’s sandwiched between two other 3D showings. I didn’t think anything of it until they started the movie.
Which was sound only. I got up and talked to the staff, they were aware of it. I got back to my seat and they started the movie over again.
Or at least tried to, several times.
At the end, the final solution was to start the movie in 3D and hand out glasses, which was not a solution for us, so we went back to the lobby and got refunds.
Disappointing.
And so ends the age of public cinema. Which may not be such a bad thing overall.
Plus, surprise happy hour at Atomic.
