Roomba(s)

As a joke, I suggested to another Roomba owner that we have a “play date” for our Roomba’s over at a friend’s house.

It’s actually rather interesting to see how people really take to the Roomba.  There’s inevitably a lot of oohing and aahing at how the robot moves around the room.  It’s understandable why the Roomba is so successful.  People really just love watching it and seeing how it moves around the environment.

When there are two Roombas, watching them collide and then navigate their way around each other is also very amusing.

You can’t help but anthropomorphosize them.

Reading / Multitasking

I’m finding that I can finish more books, as in my attention and comprehension is better, when I’m reading four of them at once.

Two of them in my bag, one at my desk at home, and another before going to bed.  Just having them around seems to encourage me to read them and I’m completing them a lot faster than if I was reading one book at a time.

Just thinking if I had a Kindle, that number would probably be a lot higher.

Totally rad

As a big video game nerd, I was surprised to see the design of the Venture Bros. 3rd season set.

It’s a love letter to the Atari 2600 box art.  It’s got the hideous background color, the fonts, and the action packed style that resembled a dynamic movie poster, but in no way resembled the blocks, bits and bleeps of the actual gameplay.

They even have faux aging on the box.  I have it in hand now and it’s just incredible looking.  Great job.

So. Little. Time.

Doing a lot of things at once.

Catching up with Battlestar.  Reading about four novels at once.  Playing Rune Factory 2.  Troubleshooting the Roomba.  Trying to get unsick.

Whew

Just registered all of the games I had available for the Club Nintendo Datamining Website.

I earned enough to get Platinum Status.  It’s the first year that the club is available in North America, but Japan’s club has gotten some pretty neat swag in the past.  I’m hoping that the trend continues over here.  I’ll find out what the reward is for revealing all of my purchasing habits at the end of the Club Nintendo Year, which is July 30th.

For those of you playing the home game, here’s a sample:

  • How did you hear about this title?
    Primary answer: Other website
  • How did you purchase this title?
    Primary answer: Online retailer
  • What was a major influence for you to purchase this title?
Primary answers:  Poor Impulse Control.  Nostalgia.  OCD.

You can see how this went.

All that aside, I really want that set of Mario Hanafuda cards.  I just like the idea of Nintendo cards, the first things they ever made in Japan over 100 years ago, combined with Mario, the character that made them the videogame empire, on the same item.
