You’ll notice that there has been a lapse of a few days with this particular weblog. That lapse can be summarized in two words:

Max Payne

Yes, it was worth the wait, and yes, bullet-time rules. Just real quick update for the non gaming crowd, Max Payne is an action game, a third person shooter (looks like tomb raider, with the behind the back view) with the distinctive gameplay feature which Remedy (the developer) has dubbed, “bullet time.”

Basically, “bullet time” is the slow down effect seen numerous times in hong kong action films, and finally utilized to great artistic effect in the US movie, The Matrix. At its heart, Max Payne is a third person shooter, like Syphon Filter. However, the game’s noir storyline and action play out more like a John Woo movie. Think, The Killer. Think, Hard Boiled. Then imagine them made into games that are actually good. Oh yeah.

Okay, so I’m going to bed before ten o’clock. I have to be at work at seven in the morning. I know, it’s sad. But please, don’t cry for me. I get off at three in the afternoon. More than enough time to get my errands done.

Today, I’ve started to get over the whole not knowing how to swim thing. Those of you that know me know that I possess about as much swimming ability as a cinder block, and about as hydrodynamic. Although I find that I’m much better about being underwater if I’ve got goggles and I don’t have to worry about water up my nose.

Oh, and about that picture the other day, note that I’m still missing in that picture, the GT3 force feedback wheel, a madcatz wheel for the dreamcast, a neGcon, a JogCon, an ASCII grip, multitaps, a GBA, a GBC, a NGPC, an SNES, an NES. . . and my sanity.

And. . . oh god! It’s after midnight!

For those that care, I did get my room clean (somewhat), my laundry done, and groceries bought (sixty dollars). Good night everyone.

It’s amazing how much mess can accumulate in a room that I’m hardly ever in. So, I’m cleaning what I can today. However, with laundry and groceries and pretty much everything else that I have to do, it’s on my to do list.

Still haven’t gone to bed before three am yet in the past two days. Today is recuperation day, I guess. Saw a lot of people that I haven’t seen in a while. Ken’s birthday was a great time, although I did peter out around the midnight mark, until Ken helped me to a breakfast screwdriver and a mimosa.

Fantastic surprise party.

With an actual surprise, no less. None of that opening a door and “Oh hey, what’s this? People are here?” fake surprise. No no no. This was opening the bathroom and finding Homer gargling at the sink, Graham in the shower wearing a towel and me, with my pants around my ankles, sitting on a toilet reading the GQ with Charlize Theron on the cover, saying, “Jesus Ken! Do you mind?” surprise.

Uh, well, maybe Peggy will provide the pictures for me to scan later. As you can imagine, it’s rather difficult to describe.
