Monthly Archives: July 2001

I just thought that these things would be interesting with the actual weekday on them. Captain’s log and all that other bull crap. Heading out to Ken’s surprise birthday tonight. Oops.

Er, his birthday party–er, wait. Tupperware gathering.

Riiiiight.

In any case, I hope that all is well with everyone this week. I’m really excited about Otakon, and before anyone accuse me of being an animé junkie, I’d like to correct them and point out that I’m a videogame junkie, first and foremost.

I probably should post up a picture of the collection. Oh yeah, I could stop whenever I wanted to. But I won’t.

(the collection.jpg)

Note that this picture is missing the following: Beatmania Controllers. DDR pads. DDR hard platforms. Samba De Amigo Controllers. Guitar Freaks controllers. Sega Fishing controller. Game Boy Games. Handheld Electronic Games. And a pile of games next to my bed. Oh, that’s all six of the Toa from Lego’s Bionicle series of toys. Cool, huh? Okay, well maybe a little sad.

In other news, the FilCam is up and running again, there at the bottom of the page. Well, not really. It just basically shows whatever picture I feel like putting up there. No webcam software as of yet. However, it’s probably for the best. Do you really want to see me coming out of the bathroom, my body glistening with water, my hair slicked back with wetness, running as I try to turn off the camera before the towel falls from my supple, slender waist?

Yeah, just as I thought. You sickos.

I'm taking what they're giving

Well, another day passes. At the state department, you have no privacy. It says so when you log in in the morning. It’s interesting, although I never thought I’d be working for the government this. . . well, deep. Friend of mine called me ‘Mulder’ jokingly, although I am located in the basement of the state department.

It’s a heck of a place to work. Good people.

On the flip side, I’m thinking of purchasing Drummania, even though I have nothing to play it on. That, and Guitar Freaks 3rd Mix, just so I can be on the drums and two people on guitar playing in what is the best form of air band, ever. The only problem is money. Serious, serious moolah.

If anyone wants to get me any gifts. These are them.

Stimulus: Economic

I had one of those days commuting. Get up early to eat breakfast and make lunch. Make lunch, eat breakfast. Get out early to catch bus. Bus is late. Bus arrives fifteen minutes later. Bus proceeds to go five miles an hour. Thirty minutes later, bus has gone half my route, which normally takes twenty minutes. I consider walking the rest of the route, when the bus driver announces, “Everyone off the bus.”

I get on the metro and then walk the rest of the way to work, arriving to work one hour and fifteen minutes after I leave my house.

Then I find I left my lunch at home. -_-

Yeah, no quote or anything. I’m a little too tired to be a smartass. Thank god tomorrow is payday. The only thing that really makes this day a little better is the fact that Dubyah Bush decided to give me back around three hundred dollars in taxes. Which, most likely will be taken away from me next year, but we’ll see. I could use the money now. What will you do with the extra money? Drop me a note, let me know what you’ll be doing.

You don't talk about Write Club

Another day, another write club meeting. Another occasion to celebrate writing. Like web design. Basically, we’re making up this fantastic language of almost cryptic runes that represent structure, images, sounds, layout and all sorts of neat shit. And it’s only going to get better. I mean, virtual worlds have their own language where you write about a sphere, in a certain way, and it appears in your world. I tell you, we are living in the future. Although we have the broadband to talk and broadcast video, I still wholeheartedly believe that our future lies in words.

The printed word.

It’s the only way we can communicate with our technology. With the advent of PDAs that recognize handwriting, we’ve come full circle. We don’t talk to them. They don’t read our minds, but they do read our gestures and our thoughts through our ability to write. Incredible.

But, I’ve blabbed on long enough, and spent way too much money. I’m getting old, aren’t I?

Speaking of age. Party at nations. This Friday. If you’re reading this, please come, I’m inviting you.

Shoujocon Part Deux

Well, be it ever so humble. . . Yes, I’m back. pictures from the con are here. Sorry about the quality about most. What can you expect from the aiptek camera. It does what it’s supposed to do. Nothing fancy like megapixels, but you get the gist. Which is better than memory, as far as I’m concerned.

But it was worth it. Well, maybe not the con, but making new friends and renewing friendships with the ones you already have are worth the trip up. It’s times like these where I make the resolution to go up and visit people without the excuse of a con.

I do regret one thing, and that is the fact that I didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked in New Jersey. That, and my lack of a decent Larva costume.

“mad props” to Carmel, Jackie, Adnan, and Tung for the “hookups” this weekend. You’ll see some of their handiwork in the pictures. Some interesting moments from the weekend include:

Hotohori and Chichiri’s cosplay kiss — Gun Buster drinking game — Bar B Q @ Carmel’s — New World Manga — Weak dealer room — One person asking for a picture — cosplayers — Jackie’s mom’s manicotti — Adnan’s scrambled eggs — Special, SPK and the GahtBustah! — Finding the rest of the Brawl cards —

Still haven’t seen the entire Final Fantasy movie, and I’m a bit bitter about that. Read a few reviews that trash the movie because it wasn’t convincing enough. I wasn’t expecting oscar material. It’s not oscar material. What it is, is a fun movie, something interesting to watch. It’s not a live-action film. It’s a film. Better than tomb raider. As good as say, Blade Runner. Man, I’m gonna catch hell for that one. I’ll write more about it later, definitely.

Oh, hey, and Mikey–I miss you too.
