All too brief.

This is what my commute looks like for about ten percent of my walk.

It’s beautiful, and sad, and wonderful, and sobering.

Self medicating

It is a great tragedy that our parents spend their lives trying to learn that they cannot do everything for us.

Then, much later we must learn that we cannot do everything for them.

I really want my mother to be happy, but she has so much hate and fear that she holds on to.

So I spend some time contemplating that lesson, vent, and then get on with my life.

After a few beers, of course.

The above is the Board Room, where I intended to spend 20 minutes but instead stayed for four hours.

Not my dog

So Meredith’s roommate has a new puppy, which means I’m over there often dealing with a puppy.

I’ve never had a pet before, and this is a new experience. I’m also post allergies, thanks to my last four years of diligence with my allergy shots.

She is a Bernese mountain dog slash poodle mix, and completely adorable.

I have been over once a week and I am possibly in love with her.

She is growing up so fast.

“Mammoth coffee”

This fluorescent ceiling light at the office was the only way I could light the droplets of oil. I was surprised that it turned the black coffee to a shade of brown.

Very creamy, delicious, as I stated above. Doesn’t need any doctoring at all. No sugar, use a dark roast, and the bitterness isn’t really there. I’m guessing its all the rich fats they are using.

I may get it again.

That moment you figure out the microwave in the new place.

With dear friends Chris and Judy in their new, brand spanking new apartment in NoMa.

And a fiddly microwave.

And something called Bear Grog, honey vodka, and an Abita espresso milk stout. Dinner was chicken pot pie and it was delicious.
