Another day, another nickel

I’m sitting here with a headset in my ear because I’m troubleshooting work connectivity problems. I guess this is why they pay me the implied, “Big bucks.” Although, admittedly–I do like solving problems. That’s why I was hired, and that’s what I do when I get home from work.

I gotta tell you though, there are some days I really hate computers.

It's relevant, again

With the release of the Lord of the Rings dvd (one of three–sheesh!) this post becomes relevant again. When it all comes down to it, there’s only one big story.

The Storm Riders

I’m a fan of Hong Kong martial arts films. Not the chop socky seventies porn soundtrack late night on USA ones, but the “new school.” The latest crop of films out of HK cinema have started to use amazing digital effects in addition to the already superb wirework. Probably one of the best that I’ve seen is a little flick called, “The Storm Riders.” It is one of the most beautiful examples of the genre that I’ve ever seen. It’s entertaining, and it’s great fun.

Not to mention that there’s a lot of digitally enhanced ass kicking. Trust me, track this one down. You’ll thank me the first time you see a wind kick.

Just an observation

Having only one hour for lunch really isn’t enough time if you’re trying to eat slowly. I guess I had grown so used to eating food in the sixty minutes allotted and thought nothing of it. When you’re eating slow, or forcing yourself to eat slow, you notice that people eat quickly.

It’s strange. I wonder when we stopped taking our time to stop and just enjoy our food.

I’m taking small bites. Small sips. Really chewing, for once. I do on occasion find that I’m trying to eat faster than I should, but I’ve been able to suppress that habit. So far, so good, not really an incidence of difficulty while swallowing. Diligence is key, but when you’ve become accustomed to wolfing down your food–eating slowly is a lot harder than it seems.

Late night tonight. . .

Oh man, that isn’t the sun coming over the horizon is it?
