Okay. . .

That is a lot of dead ladybugs.

Just a bit of background to explain that statement. I have a server room in a converted bathroom. Typically, server rooms are supposed to be cold. The colder the better. The air conditioning unit in said bathroom has a bad compressor. So, it’s got to be replaced. When our facilities guys moved the thing, underneath was one large ladybug graveyard.

Ladybugs. Lots. Dead. A “plethora,” if you will.

I want an entomologist to come explain this phenomenon to me. And an etymologist to explain plethora.

Now Listening. . .

I really wouldn’t have ever thought myself a “fan” of any particular band. But then there’s CAKE. I own all of their albums. (Four.) There’s just something undeniably cool, in my opinion, about their sound. Good grooving bass lines. Brass–and who uses that nowadays? Talking instead of singing. Lyrics that are, uh, thought provoking. Good drums.

It just all comes together. And not just on one album. All of the CDs are easy to listen to. I find myself listening to all four albums in a day. . . And then starting over. Not every day mind you–but it’s hard to find a band that you can do that to.

Now Listening to: Wayne Frickin’ Newton. Who do you think I’m listening to right now? (Apologies to Wayne Frickin’ Newton, who I often emulate during my rendition of Danke Schoen. He rocks.)

Oh, BTW

It’s HOT here in the district. Spelled with a capital, “H” and a capital “AWHT.”

I made the mistake of leaving my office. Yeah. Not doing that again.

Here's that "Something Different" Part

I, of silver tongue
Often speak truths of my friends.
“That’s bullshit!” they cry.

Ahh. . . Hospitals.

So Krasota’s in the hospital, and she’s the one making sure that I have something to eat. I love this woman. They’ve found some stuff that may actually explain her immune problems, which is good. Thankfully, there is finally something that the doctors will pay attention to. No, it’s not all in your head. Good to see everyone again, although, wasn’t I just here last month?

Exploding Cat’s been handling everything just as well. He doesn’t like hospitals, and I don’t blame him. Thankfully, Krassie’s okay and that, truly is the important part.
