So if you’re thinking about Guitar Hero II for the 360, you might want to wait until they get the bad guitars out of their manufacturing run. Here’s part of my exchange with RedOctane customer support:
We have isolated the issue to a small group of controllers that came from a particular manufacture, we have since corrected the issue, Please take the bundle back to the retailer for an exchange. If possible we do ask that you send us the model number from your controller, it is located on the sticker and should be one of the following # 95055 or # 95065.
In short, avoid those model numbers. I think you can see them on the SKU, so you don’t necessarily have to open up the box and look at the back of the controller. Going back to Best Buy, I couldn’t find another copy of Guitar Hero II to exchange it with, so I had to return it. I think I’ll wait a little longer for them to “work out the kinks” in manufacturing, then get back to thrashing like that forty year old dude at the demo kiosk.
He was totally getting into it.
