Strange how the weeks can fly by. Or even the years, for that matter. Nine years ago I barely missed a plane to Washington, DC. They had to open the door for me. I’m placed in a new city, by myself. I’ve got no family, no support–nothing.
And I find myself nine years later, loving the place.
I’ve made friends. I’ve lost friends. I fell in love a couple times, with wonderful girls that I never would have met otherwise. I’ve moved several times. I’ve not had a car. (Never needed one, here.) I’d like a car. I’ve watched some Star Wars (okay, all of them) at a theater called the Uptown. I’ve got restaurants that recognize me as a regular. I’ve got a “pad” relatively close to downtown. I don’t live in the suburbs. I know the metro better than I know the above ground streets.
I’ve grown into a Washingtonian and I don’t know how.
And I still think that waiting until 2003 for the Matrix Reloaded is too damn long.
