What I Fear Most About Ep II . . .

Critical fans will tell you: Episode I was not a good movie. There were problems with pacing, dialogue, and Lucas’s choice for Anakin Skywalker. The more effects inspired fans will point out flaws in the digital effects. The Politically Correct fans will point out the “Evil Trade Federation’s” pseudo Asian stereotypical accent.

Every fan hates Jar-Jar.

What I fear about Ep II is that it may continue what many believe is a dilution of the series.

Look at the Highlander movie series. I know people today who willfully ignore the existence of any other Highlander movies beyond the first.

“There was a sequel to Highlander? Don’t make me laugh.”

Highlander is one thing. Star Wars is another. People in the UK put “Jedi Knight” down as a religion on their last census. So many people did this, that they had to include it in the census data. Obviously, people take their Star Wars seriously. I’m a fan. I’m not what you would call rabid, or crazy, or even devoted–but I grew up with Episodes IV, V, and VI. I loved them with all of their inconsistencies, their unanswered questions, and their disappearing british accents. I love the characters and the way they develop. I love the story. In short, I love the fantasy of Star Wars. They are fun, well crafted movies.

I feel that with Episode I, Lucas has lost the original vision of Star Wars as a space opera. I understand that he can take his movie any direction he wants. This, after all, is his vision. He can do whatever he wants, he can even include midiclorians. However, Episode I is not as fun as the other movies. I know I’m not the only one that skips ahead to the pod race and the lightsaber duels on the dvd. They got so damn serious. Lucas needs to remember that people can have fun at a movie and it doesn’t have to be campy–he’s done it before.

Here’s to Episode II: Attack of the Clones. I’ll see you there in two days.

Sigh. . .

Autolust now. My brother and I are talking about cars.
WRX from Subaru. My brother’s choice. Power. Lots of it, extremely cheap. It can drive through houses, apparently.
RSX from Acura. The Integra replacement. Yay. Everyone and their tweak happy brother will have this car.
MINI Cooper S from BMW. Sacrificing power for style, this is the one that my heart is racing for. I’ve got a “thing” for european cars.
Civic SI from Honda. With the rally shifter, this particular entry from Honda has me looking at it with a new eye. Watch the video. You’ll understand.

Augh!

Late night sense. . . Tingling.

Well Now. . .

Happy Mother’s Day, mom! I’m sorry that the florists messed up and sent you an “I Love You, Grandma,” balloon along with the “Happy Mother’s day” balloon. No, I’m not trying to tell you something. No, really!

Okay, So I'm a Little Tired.

So, JungFroid tells me, “Dude. My parents are going to be gone Friday and Saturday. I’m going to have a party!”
I say, “Okay.”
Then, Saturday morning, around five o’clock, I start to think, “Whoa, I have to work in six hours.

4AM: Stop Karaoke
5AM: Arrive at home
9AM: Get up for work.
11AM: Arrive at work.
2PM: Leave work. Head to Farthest end of Metro system from where I am currently to help friends move.
3PM: Arrive at Chipmunk’s house. Play with three month old daughter and three year old daughter for nine hours.
1AM: Arrive at home and hopefully fall asleep.

Chipmunk: “Oh, and these are pictures from when I was a dancer at Masquerade.”
A short silence is observed as pictures Chipmunk dressed as the “innocent one” in white stockings, garter belt, bustier and heels are perused. Chipmunk beams.
Krasota: “Look at her shoes, they’re beautiful!”

PraxisLoki: “There are shoes?!”

I smell like baby. Not that that’s a bad thing. I find it interesting that I actually enjoyed myself–not a surprise, since I’m usually good with children that aren’t mine. (Like I’ve had any.) They’re much easier to deal with when you can just give them back. I had to tell the guinea pig story tonight, at Krasota’s insistence. Ask me about it sometime. It’s actually somewhat amusing.
